THE 2012 GRAMMY AWARDS . . .
‘We celebrate the beautiful Miss Whitney Houston. Get off your rich asses and let’s have fun!’ Bruno Mars That was one of the best lines of the night, which was included in one of the best performances of the night as well. Trying to find “official” footage of Bruno Mars performance of “Runaway” from his Doowops & Hooligans album. Adele makes a clean sweep with 6 Grammy wins and this wonderful performance (her 1st after vocal surgery!!) Jennifer Hudson’s Grammy tribute to Whitney Houston, was too short and the wrong song. YES her performance was GREAT, however, ”I Will Always Love You” is Whitney’s song and no one can sing it like Whitney!!! Ok someone named BON IVER won as artist of the year and had everyone going . . . WHO THE FUCK IS HE. After youtubing, still wondering WHO THE FUCK IS HE . . . This guy

NO BLUE IVY PICS YET BUT HERE’S HER MOMMA (BEYONCE)
Lol . . . of course Mrs. Carter had to come out and support Mr. Carter at his performance last night (Carnegie Hall). “Post baby body” Beyonce looks full and thick however, seems like that baby bump just disappeared. JAY Z . . . SHOWS ‘EM WHAT HE GOT AT CARNEGIE HALL
“Those who thought Jigga would conform to the stuffy artistic standard typically associated with the famed concert hall were mistaken. Jay strutted across the stage drinking from his gold bottle promising the crowd, “It’s just tea.” “As he’s done most of his career, Jay continued to stomp out the misconceptions that rap can’t be considered highbrow art as he tore through radio hits and street favorites like “U Don’t Know” and “Where I’m From.” Jay did balance things out when he invited Alicia Keys onstage for “Empire State of Mind” but got extra-gritty on the very next song, making way for Nas to perform his own “N.Y. State of Mind” from the Queensbridge MC’s 1994 classic Illmatic. There was a perfect juxtaposition throughout. The biggest musical clash came when Jay performed the “Annie”-sampling “Hard Knock Life.” Jigga rapped the song’s verses, while the wealthy crowd song the downtrodden chorus. By the time Hova rolled into the

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOB MARLEY!!
Robert “Bob” Marley was lead singer and guitarist for the ska and reggae bands The Wailers and Bob Marley & The Wailers. Marley’s music was highly influential, not only in the world of reggae which he largely defined, but also introducing the Rastafarian movement to a worldwide audience. Many of his songs featured the struggles of the powerless and the poor, as well as preaching Rastafarian themes such as brotherhood and peace for all mankind. His songs, including I Shot the Sheriff, No Woman, No Cry and Redemption Song, rocketed up the charts. Following his death in 1981, Marley’s posthumously released album, Legend, became reggae’s best-selling album of all time, selling 20 million copies worldwide.

The POP QUEEN is back. Well she never left, but she is REITERATING her place as the ulta MATERIAL GIRL. Madonna aka Madge shows the world that she definitely still has it. And well she looks damn good still!! Honestly, the song . . . ehhhhh . . . isn’t what I was expecting from Madonna, much less Madonna + M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj. Seems kinda cheesy compared to the countless hits from her 12 albums. (#12 is due to be released March 26th and “Give Me All Your Luvin” is the 1st single) The 2 ladies will join Madonna at her Super Bowl half time show to perform the single. Check out the video below:

But really is it a surprise? The song is CALLED >> STUPID HOE and it’s about stupid hoes. Musical Black History – Lijadu Sisters
(Posted taken from Kamala B/Facebook) Day 2!! Nigeria the birth place of Afro Beat…….and the “Lijadu Sisters”. In 1970s Nigeria, only a tiny handful of female artists broke through the backing singer/dancer ceiling to become stars in their own right, particularly if they wrote their own material — And Fela cousins The Lijadu sisters did just that. Their repertoire ranged from love songs and dance anthems to philosophy and political/social commentary. “The music business was hard for women in Nigeria,” says Taiwo Lijadu. “Back then, they didn’t think women had brains.” Twins Taiwo and Kehinde were born in Jos, in northern Nigeria, on October 22, 1948. They enjoyed singing from an early age, inspired by disc by Aretha Franklin, Miriam Makeba, Ray Charles and, later, Fela Kuti…..The Lijadu Sister created a style all their own. The sisters’ Afrodisia debut, 1976’s Danger gave you a vibe of uplifting positivity which would

LOL, and I had to explain no, I’m singing a song . . . pause . . . “WHAT KINDA SONG IS THAT?” Then I realized everyone pinging me where between Europe & Jamaica, and honestly had no idea what that hook belongs too. Actually it’s plenty people in the US who doesn’t know. It’s a GOGO song. Yup a good ‘ol DC GO GO anthem. Go Go is basically a regional (DC, Northern VA and Maryland) subgenre of funk music. It combines funk, RnB, early Hip Hop, and a lot of percussion (snares, bass drum, congas) with call and response vocals. GOGO is NOT HOUSE Music. There is a hugeeeeeeeeee difference. Celine Dion booked for the 2012 Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival
(New York) Across the Caribbean Diaspora, Jamaican promoter Walter Elmore’s Art of Music Productions (AMP) successful bid to attract mega star Celine Dion to the 2012 JAMAICA Jazz and Blues Festival – The Art of Music is being viewed as a boost for the festival and for the region. Two years ago when the organization began its efforts to entice the musical icon to the festival, they had no idea how they could pull it off. “But I’m a firm believer that if you have an idea, you work at it. If you don’t try you’ll never succeed,” says Elmore, AMP’s chairman. Inking the deal, Elmore says, took some “jumping through hoops” but now that all systems are set for Dion’s first performance in the Caribbean, he is understandably very excited. “Her production team is amazing and has been working with my team to make sure that everything’s in place. It is going to be an exceptional show,” he

I get e-blast around the clock about new music, new movies, and gossip, but this none. Maybe it will be a last minute PR rush on this? (considering this movie releases on Jan 20th, a few weeks before the NOTED “Black History Month” we celebrate in the US.) @Ms_HDP A George Lucas directed film here is the “IMDB” synopsis, “A crew of African American pilots in the Tuskegee training program, having faced segregation while kept mostly on the ground during World War II, are called into duty under the guidance of Col. A.J. Bullard.”

WATAGATAPITUSBERRY . . . then Lil Jon & Pitbull had to hop on the single and well it’s unexplainable watch the video . . . After watching that video it explains his comical yet catchy flow in “Latinos In Paris”. Sensato starting rapping in church and developed his skill for lyricism more sharply when he moved to NY around the age of 13. From Brazil, the bootylicious diva has been in Playboy (spanish) 4 times, models, dances, and of course exercises. CHEETAH from Tarzan lived to be 80yrs old . . .
Yes . . . Cheetah as in the Chimpanzee, from the old black & white Tarzan movies, lived to be 80yrs old. The Chimpanzee died on Christmas Eve due to kidney failure at a primate sanctuary. Cheetah had been retired to the sanctuary years ago after his stint in show business. Cheetah appeared in Tarzan The Ape Man (1932) andTarzan And His Mate (1934). He was largely popular due to the fact he could stand up (shoulders tall, back straight – as if to walk like a person) and to be able to speak (vocalize) on cue.

For the past few years as we’ve become dependent (lol) on the internet, THIS ONE SONG, has NOT been available. No iTunes, no Youtube etc etc . . . well this year, it has finally appeared online . . . OTIS & BONQUISHA “CHRISTMAS BLUES”

Paris Jackson makes rare appearance on Ellen . . .
Although the “family” wanted her to wait until 18 to persue a career in entertainment, Paris Jackson has announced her 1st acting role in 2013′s “Lundon’s Bridge and the Three Keys” which is based on a fantasy book. Family love and the “magic” of belief are themes in the book series, which both of course where important to her father Michael Jackson. Making a rare public appearance alone, she was recently interviewed on Ellen . . .
Mindless Behavior “Christmas With My Girl” (Video)
Awwwww they just too cute . . . Mindless Behavior video for their Christmas single “Christmas With My Girl”.
GOOD CHRISTMAS (Christmas Parody w/ Drake, Wacka Flocka, Gucci Mane, Lady Gaga etc)
This is hilarious. Seen it last year and had to find it for this year. Some of the parodies are spot on and they are all funny. My favorite part is Wacka Flocka lol “MILK MILK COOKIES COOKIES . . . . CANDY CANE GINGERBREAD MANE.” They pretty much cover all the popular urban artist at the moment from Drake to Rick Ross, Rihanna to Lady Gaga. All but Weezy is in it. LOL. Enjoy! @Ms_HDP

FRIDAY . . . is coming back, says Ice Cube
A few days ago, a rep for Cube Vision Productions, confirmed with TMZ, that the original cast is being re-united for a last installment of Friday. The rep remarks . . . “Absolutely yes the studio is in the process of getting the entire original cast to do another ‘Friday.’” In 1996 a lil hood comedy released with the characters such as Smokey (Chris Tucker), DeeBo (Tiny “Zeus” Lester Jr), Big Worm (Faizon Love), Ezel, Dana, Felisha etc . . . who knew 16 years later it would become a Pop Culture mainstay? Yes it currently sits as a “trilogy” but let’s be honest . . . none of the subsequent movies were as good as the 1st. So the question now is, we know it’s coming, but will it be as good as the 1st?

T-Pain performing w/o auto-tune & sounds great!!!!
Alright we didn’t say it sounded PERFECT, but considering his OVER USE of AUTO-TUNE, it’s nice to hear him without it. On Tuesday night’s Jimmy Kimmel, the auto-tune professor, sat down at a piano and performed “Drowning Again” (from his “Revolver” album) live. Overall the setting and the performance was nice, with a little more live singing and vocal training, T-Pain could dash that auto-tune away.

Just when you thought it was too many, here comes another one . . . another reality show, brought to you by none other than . . . Trailers started running this week and the show debuts at 9pm on December 5th. Why such a short trailer period? Well T.I. was released in September, and naturally filming started after. It appears that we’ll be getting a relatively fresh reality show (as some are filmed months and months ahead of air time). Hopefully T.I. stays clear of trouble and continues of his focus of “God, Family, and Hustle”. If you check it out, let us know!!
DOGGIE DOO . . . the game
REALLY? No like REALLLLLYYYYY . . . not to be cliche but “ARE YOU SHITTIN ME?” Maybe this game will help teach kids how to clean up after their doggie poops? LITERALLY. It’s been out since April but of course, it’s holiday season so the commercial is on overdrive right now. Would you buy this game for your child?

“For Better or Worse” off to an OK start
Apparently Tyler Perry’s name does carry weight, not just in plays and movies, but TV shows as well. The oddly scheduled premiere of Tyler’s new series “For Better or Worse”, debuted on Black Friday. A friday night, filled with holiday shows, and tired shoppers, pulled 3.4 million viewers. Although the debut views are less than “House of Payne” (5.9 mil) and “Meet the Browns” (4 mil) which both aired on regular nights, “For Better or Worse” faired pretty damn good!

Boosie accepts responsibility for his choices . . .
With all the tweets and facebook statuses yesterday (11/29) after Boosie sentencing was handed down, it seems that his supporters missed this statement to TMZ “Don’t worry about me I am getting help with my drug addiction and I am accepting full responsibility for the choice I made.” Let’s revisit that last part again, “I am accepting full responsibility for the choice I made.” With that being said, the “free Boosie” rants need to end. Boosie received the 8 year sentence for smuggling drugs into prison; however, his time served (he’s been in since July 2010) will apply. Unfortunately, Boosie still awaits an April court date on murder charges.

“Dollar Sign – Hustle Di Money” Passage frm Kartel’s Book Chapter 2
“I start the song, by repeating “hustle the money” “me a hustle the money” almost to make the message subliminal. Careful. Read again. Haters, critics, read again and listen carefully – its hustle the money not steal the money, not take a gun and rob the money, not start a ponzi and con the money- just hustle the money. I stress the point repeatedly because there is a sector of society that believes when ghetto youths acquire ambition for financial success it means that we are going to begin to embark on some unscrupulous or illegal behaviour to rob people money. I often wonder why the elite of society don’t think us ghetto youths don’t want the same for our family as they do. ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: CHEKKAZZ ENTERTAINMENT
**Notice, until The Weekly Dip Chart is back and running, these posts will be called “Artist Spotlight” If Dancehall had a “Boy Band”, Chekkazz would be it. Unlike the standard proto-type of boy band, Chekkazz is actually filled with naturally talented artist and dancers. Started in 2005, Chekkazz has transformed into a 10 member entertainment group. Releasing “Sum’n New (Juss Buss)” in summer 2010 for Digicel, Chekkazz emerged from “just dancers” to “artist”. With recognition all over Jamaica and performances worldwide, Chekkazz are known best for creating and teaching dances such as “Set Me Free” “Punk Rock” and “Poor and Boasty”. 2011 promises to be a great year for these rising group of talented young men. Reach Chekkazz at chekkazzentertainment@gmail.com.
